The General Meeting 2011 of the A.I.E.P will take place
Dr. Paulo Comelli, born in 1943, died on May 9th 2011 at Belo Horizonte city, Brazil.
He was one of the worlds most prominent philatelists. Paulo Comelli was a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society, London and in 2007 he signed the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists.
His collection of Brazil received the highest honours and was awarded with the Grand Prix at the INDIPEX 2011, a few weeks before his unexpected death.
He was active as Vice President of the FEBRAF (Federacao dos Filatelistas do Brazil) 1997-2001 and he was also Vice President of the FIAF 1998-2001. He was a FIP accredited juror for Traditional Philately and Postal History.
Paulo Comelli became a member of the A.I.E.P. in 2003 and served as Director since 2006.
The world of Philately lost one of the bestknown philatelists, and the A.I.E.P. lost an excellent expert and a good friend.
A.I.E.P. VIce President Robert P. Odenweller, RDP HonFRSPl, receives the Crawford Medal of the Royal Philatelic Socierty, London for his book "The Postage Stamps of New Zealand 1855-1873, The Chalon Head Issues".
